Mary Baldwin Struggles to Score in First Half

Winchester, VA - The Mary Baldwin College basketball team suffered their sixth loss in a row this evening at Shenandoah University.  With their leading scorer out sick, MBC struggled to find the basket in the first half.  With the game tied at the 11:30 mark, the Hornets went on a 14-3 run to take a commanding 25-14 lead at the half.

As they have all year, Baldwin fought back in the final twenty minutes.  At the 13:16 mark, Sophomore Shanice Miles sank a three point shot to bring MBC to within four, 24-28.  That proved to be the closest the Hornets allowed them to come as they built their lead to 53-41 at 3:41 then rolled to a 62-46 win.  Shenandoah University improves their record to 8-11 (5-7 USAS) as they take their third conference win in a row.  Mary Baldwin falls to 4-12 (2-10 USAS).

Sophomore Shanice Miles led Mary Baldwin with 17 points.  Freshman Meagan Barron added 12.  Senior Crystal Lewis grabbed 9 rebounds for the Fighting Squirrels.

Mary Baldwin will play three more games this week on the road.  On Thursday, they travel to Eastern Mennonite University.  Tip-off is 7:00PM.
