The Mary Baldwin College soccer team improved their record to 4-3 (0-2 USAS) this afternoon when they traveled to Phoenixville, PA and defeated Valley Forge Christian College 2-0. Although Valley Forge had more shots (15) than Mary Baldwin (7) neither team was able to score a goal until the Fighting Squirrels found the net with 4:19 remaining in the game. The goal came off of a free kick by Kadijah Jones from 25 yards out. That gave the visitors renewed energy and minutes later, MBC would find the net again. This time the goal came from a back pass from Aisha Williams at the top left corner of the 18 yard box to Kallie Johnson who dribbled through her defender and kicked a beautiful shot over the goal keeper's reach. That was Sophomore Kalli Johnson's fifth goal of the season. Erica Gaughan remained in the goal the entire game and got her first shutout of the season thanks to great support from the defense.
The Fighting Squirrels will be at home this weekend taking on USA South rivals Greensboro College on Saturday and Methodist University on Sunday. Both games start at 1:00PM.
