Mary Baldwin Volleyball Drop Two Matches

Lynchburg, VA - The Mary Baldwin College Volleyball Team opened the 2012 season on Saturday at Lynchburg College.  The Fighting Squirrels lost both matches 0-3.

In the morning, Baldwin lost to Randolph College 20-25, 22-25, and 12-25.  Sophomore Kharla Bethea had 6 kills in the match.  She was followed closely by Sophomores LaToya Diggs and Jonquil Brown with 5 kills.  

Senior Paige Babb finished with 11 assists while LaToya Diggs also contributed 9 digs for the Fighting Squirrels.

In the afternoon, Mary Baldwin took on the host team Lynchburg College.  They lost 10-25, 11-25, and 11-25.

Jonquil Brown contributed 6 kills while Kharla Bethea added 5 kills.  Senior Paige Babb finished with 9 assists while Freshman Rickita Smith added 6 digs.

The Fighting Squirrels will be back in action today when they take on conference foe Meredith College in their final match of the tournament.  That match begins at 11:00am.
